Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals

Author: Oliver Burkeman

Format: 🎧 Audiobook

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall impression:

This was a good book to start getting some stuff straight in my head about the time I have left in this life and how to use it.

Suggestions from the book:

  1. Adopt a fixed column approach to productivity. Open and closed lists
  2. Serialize. Focus on one big project at once.
  3. Decide in advance what to fail at. Remove the sting of shame.
  4. Focus on what you’ve already completed, not just on what’s left. Keep a “done” list
  5. Consolidate your caring. You don’t need to do everything.
  6. Embrace boring and single purpose tech.
  7. Seek out novelty in the mundane
  8. Be a researcher of relationships, deliberately adopt curiosity
  9. Cultivate instantaneous generosity
  10. Practice doing nothing
